Florida Atlantic University's football team began week eight of game preparation without senior quarterback Rusty Smith for the first time since 2005. Junior Jeff Van Camp was named this week's starter on Monday and will assume the role as the Owls signal caller.
Van Camp started Tuesday's practice with the first team while David Kooi worked with the second team.
FAU began practice with punt and punt coverage for an extended period of time. The team then moved into individual drills and began installing the pass and running game. Practice ended with field goal work.

Comment from Rusty Smith: "I definitely have an AC sprain in my left shoulder. I'm out for the season. Now it is up to me to decide if I want to have surgery. It is a decision that me and my family need to make. If we decide to have the surgery it is schedule for this Friday morning. It is up to us on what we feel is best for me."

Bus Trip to FIU
Owl Club members Jim and Leigh Slowiak are organizing bus transportation to the FAU football game at FIU 7 p.m., December 5. This is an open invitation for any FAU football fan. The price for transportation, and soft drinks or water is just $20. The buses will arrive in plenty of time to enjoy the "Bring Your Own" tailgate extravaganza.
