Football's Jaquez Johnson Named Conference USA Player of the Week

BOCA RATON, Fla. -

Florida Atlantic University’s starting quarterback Jaquez Johnson has been named Conference USA Player of the Week. Johnson accounted for 404 yards of the team’s 579 total offense and three touchdowns in FAU’s 37-23 win at UAB.

Johnson had a passer rating of 90.2 completing 23 of 36 passes for 299 yards, and two touchdowns. Johnson also rushed for a career-high 105 yards and one rushing touchdown as FAU scored 14 unanswered points in the fourth quarter, to secure the program’s first C-USA win. Both Johnson and Jonathan Wallace tallied more than 100 rushing yards which is the first time in the program’s history that two players have rushed for 100 yards in the same game.

Johnson also was named Conference USA Player of the Week by College Sports Madness. College Sports Madness selects the players that made the greatest impact to their team each week.

The Manning Award sponsored by the Allstate Sugar Bowl also has selected Johnson as one of its stars of the week. Each week the Manning Award selects eight college quarterbacks and fan’s votes determine the winner of that week’s award.
