BOCA RATON, FL -
Florida Atlantic University's Howard Schnellenberger will don his coaching cap in less than 14 days when the inaugural football signees report to campus. Prior to the team's arrival, Schnellenberger continues to wear the hat of Director of Football Operations with the hiring of an athletic trainer and an equipment manager.
Brian Anderson, ATC, LAT, will join the new program after serving, since 1997, as Nova Southeastern University's Co-Head Athletic Tgrainer. Following his graduation from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1997, Anderson began work at HealthSouth Doctor's Hospital where he worked with outpatient services, form April through October.
Joining Anderson at the two latest FAU hirees is Michael Short. Short, who first met Schnellenberger as a student at the University of Miami, will bring 15 years of experience to the new program. Short began as UM's Assistant equipment Manager in 1985 and was promoted to Head Football equipment Manager in 1987.
"Every step we take is a step towards building a championship team," said Schnellenberger. "Two essential elements are care and prevention of player injuries and proper equipment and its management. Both Brian and Michael will be instrumental in the development of FAU's program."
