BOCA RATON, FL -
The Florida Atlantic University football team began its final week of preparation for its first scrimmage, to be held this Saturday, September 23, at the Tom Oxley Practice Field on FAU's Boca Raton campus. The team spent two hours and thirty minutes at Monday afternoon's practice as it began its third full week in pads in anticipation of the first of a series of weekly scrimmages to begin Saturday.
"The injury bug has bitten us," said head coach Howard Schnellenberger. "I had hoped that over the weekend, with Sunday off, that wee would have gotten some of the guys back. But we've got a lot of bumps and bruises that have put players on the limited list and other things that have several on the out list. It's not uncommon for young kids in this stage of their practice, and we've just got to fight through it and get as many of them back as quickly as we can and continue to work to get better."
