Well, the heartbreak of the overtime loss last Saturday is over. The student section was fantastic and those who stayed until the end of the game were treated to a fast-paced offensive game. We also got to see the offensive potential that the coaches have talked about. Jaquez Johnson used his arm as well as his legs to power FAU’s offense to a record number of yards.
On a personal note, I enjoyed seeing the photographers that I only get to see at FAU home games and while I had to park near Spanish River Blvd, the full lots made it seem like a traditional college gameday.
This week the game will air on Fox College Sports and of course you can get the call from ESPN 106.3’s Ken LaVicka and FAU alum Kris Bartels.
I’m accustomed to the television struggling with the FAU and FAU names when we play. I generally refer to us as Florida Atlantic to prevent that in all situations. This weekend, it will interesting to see how television handles the Owls facing the Owls.
Before I sign off, I want to send a shout out to men’s soccer. They are off to an impressive 5-0-1 start and are 1-0 in Conference USA play. Volleyball has a 7-5 record. The seven victories equal their total from a year ago and they are not at the halfway point of their 2013 schedule. Great job Owls!
