A pair of seniors that led their teams during their first contests of the season are the latest Florida Atlantic “Student-Athletes of the Week.”
Football quarterback Graham Wilbert came off the bench in the second half to lead the Owls to a 7-3 victory over Wagner in the season opener. Wilbert completed 10 of 13 passes for 136 yards, and his 39-yard touchdown pass to Byron Hankerson with 11:36 remaining in the fourth quarter provided the final margin. The Owls are on the road to face Sun Belt Conference foe Middle Tennessee State this Saturday at 7 p.m.
Libero Cintia Nightingale began her final volleyball campaign with an outstanding performance at the Stetson Clarion Classic, tallying 68 digs in four matches, for a 4.00 dig per set average. She had 21 digs in both matches on Saturday and added three total service aces. Nightingale was named to the all-tournament team and currently sits 248 digs shy of the school’s all-time career record. The volleyball team travels back to Stetson on September 11 for their next match, beginning at 5:30 p.m.
