BOCA RATON, Fla -
Florida Atlantic University will open its 13th season of football on Friday, Aug. 30 at 8 p.m., when the Owls travel to Sun Life Stadium in Miami Gardens to face the University of Miami. The Owls 2013 radio broadcast team will be ESPN 106.3's Ken LaVicka with the play-by-play, while former FAU assistant coach Fred O'Connor and former Owl defensive back Kris Bartels will share the commentary duties. Brian Rowitz, also of ESPN 106.3, will handle the pregame duties.
"We are grateful and pleased to have a veteran radio team bringing the game to our fans," said John Semeraro, FAU's sr. associate athletic director for external relations. "Ken has become known as the voice of the Owls and there is no better person to carry that moniker. Fred's vast experience and ease at breaking the game down for the fan and Kris' knowledge of the Owls' family complete a team that truly understands and can explain the program."
FAU's move to Conference USA brings more exposure to the program, but the insight provided by the 2013 radio team will be second to none. The team will cover each of the 12 regular-season games and will be on hand should the Owls advance to the C-USA championship game and beyond.
