Florida Atlantic University's football team enjoyed a day of meetings on Sunday, but returned to the practice field Monday morning for the first of two scheduled practices The work week will include a total of nine practice sessions.
The morning session, included full pads, which began with both the lines working on protecting or defending the run. On the second field, senior quarterback Melvin German found Alex Deleon connecting on a 40-yard pass. Just a few plays later newcomer Jaquez Johnson did the same thing hitting sophomore Jenson Stoshak.
The day's momentum shifted to the defensive side of the ball. Safety newcomer Marc Mauro grabbed an interception and earned a chant by the defense. The morning session ended with the defense forcing a fumble and returning it for a score.
The evening session was uppers and shorts but the speed and contact remained. Senior corner Keith Reaser got the day started with a pass break-up during 7-on-7.
The Owls will return to the field 10:30 a.m. Tuesday.
