BOCA RATON, FL - The Florida Atlantic University football team entered into its last week of preseason camp, Monday, with another two-a-day in preparation for Saturday's Fanfest, scheduled for 3 p.m. in the FAU on-campus stadium.
The 9:30 a.m. session, after special teams and individual drills, began with Graham Wilbert taking snaps for full offense vs. defense. After a couple of keepers, the redshirt senior handed off to Damian Fortner for big yards through a hole on the right side, created by wideout Byron Hankerson. Melvin German III was next under center, giving off to Martese Jackson for a gain, then Stephen Curtis did the same with Fortner. The defensive play of the drill was a hit by linebacker David Hinds as Jonathan Wallace crossed the line of scrimmage.
The evening session opened with the offensive line creating back-to-back gaps for Martese Jackson. Wilbert found William Dukes 60 yards down field for the score. The evening also featured match-ups like linebackers vs. running backs. Hinds was the first to show what is expected. During the final period, it was defensive end Cory Henry who received the praise.
Tuesday will be a morning practice session at 9:30 a.m., while Wednesday is the next-to-last two-a-day.
Season and single game tickets are on sale and can be purchased through Ticketmaster or by calling 1-866-FAU-Owls.
