Several FAU Football Players Receive Preseason Recognition

July 30, 2012

Florida Atlantic University’s football team is preparing for the 2012 season opener on Friday, August 31, and several Owls have been spotlighted in various preseason publications.

Seven Owls were selected for the Sun Belt team in Phil Steele’s 2012 College Football Preview. Junior linebacker Randell Johnson is a first team representative, and fellow linebacker, senior David Hinds, earned a second team spot. Senior guard Andy Czuprynski, junior cornerback Keith Reaser and senior safety Demetrius Williamson are on the third team. Two special teamers, senior kicker Vinny Zaccario and junior Travis Jones, a punt returner, are on Steele’s fourth team.

Reaser is named in the preseason Lindy’s Sports preview as a first team All-Sun Belt defensive back, while also being recognized as the conference’s “Best Corner Cover.”

Johnson picked up second team All-Sun Belt recognition in Lindy’s as well as by Athlon Sports. Sophomore tight end Nexon Dorvilus, along with Johnson, each were named to a College Football Performance Awards preseason watch list. Both are viewed as candidates for the best at their position among Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) teams.

The Owls kick off the 2012 season on Friday, August 31 when they host Wagner College at FAU Stadium, 777 Glades Road, Boca Raton campus. To purchase single-game or season tickets, contact the FAU ticket office at 1-866-FAU-OWLS (328-6957), or visit www.fausports.com.
