Sean Kelly

July 9, 2013

Florida Atlantic University’s Nexon Dorvilus and Sean Kelly are the latest members of the Owl football team to receive preseason recognition.

Dorvilus, a senior, has earned a spot on the 2013 John Mackey Award Preseason Watch List, an annual award given to the most outstanding collegiate tight end. The mention is the third list to mention Dorvilus, thus far.

Dorvilus saw action in every game as a junior and finished his campaign with 30 receptions for 301 yards and was one of seven receivers to record a touchdown reception and led all with five scores in 2012. He had a season high six receptions and 78 yards versus Troy University. At season's end he earned second team All-Sun Belt honors, the former conference FAU competed in, and also was named the team's Student-Athlete of the Year.

Kelly earned a spot on the College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) Special Teams Award Watch List as a punter. Kelly averaged 39.9 yards per punt, including 14 that were over 50 yards as a freshman and did not allow a punt to be blocked. He pinned 16 punts inside the 20. He recorded four games in 2013 with eight punts, all on the road (Georgia, Alabama, ULM and Western Kentucky). In each of those games, he accumulated more than 300 yards with the Alabama game setting a single-season and career mark of 395 yards.

The duo will be instrumental in leading FAU into the second season under the direction of Head Coach Carl Pelini and the first season as a member of Conference USA. To purchase FAU season football tickets, call 1-866-FAU-Owls or visit
