BOCA RATON, FL - Florida Atlantic University's athletic department will host the 2011 football spring game on Saturday, April 23 at 2 p.m. at the Tom Oxley Center football practice fields.
Fans will have the opportunity to purchase 2011 football season tickets for the inaugural season in FAU's new 30,000-seat on-campus stadium. Seat selection begins Friday, May 6, and fans that have purchased a pair of seats prior to the "Early Bird special" deadline of Tuesday, May 31 will be included on a "Remembrance Wall."
There also will be a kids' interactive area, and the first 3,000 fans to attend will receive a schedule magnet. Admission and parking is free for everyone.
Redshirt senior Alfred Morris and redshirt junior Xavier Stinson continue to lead the running backs, while the search is on to fill the wide receiver shoes vacated by Lester Jean, a January graduate who continues to prepare for a spot in the upcoming NFL draft. The intact offensive line has worked on continuity this spring, as well as protection coming from the speedy defensive line and outside linebackers.
Defensive lineman Kevin Cyrille, a redshirt senior, will enter his third season as a starter. Cyrille has posted an outstanding spring and has been a mainstay during the transition. Expect to see redshirt sophomore Randell Johnson and sophomore Cory Henry come off the ball faster than previous FAU linebackers while applying pressure to the young quarterback staff. The defensive backs will be young but deep in 2011 and they have made pass catching difficult this spring.
The Owls will open the 2011 campaign at the University of Florida in Gainesville on Saturday, September 3. The 2011 football season will host five home games to be played for the first time on FAU's Boca Raton campus, with the home season opener scheduled to take place on Saturday, October 15.
