BOCA RATON, FL - Florida Atlantic University's football team hit the practice fields with temperatures reaching record highs but a strong breeze out of the west tempered the heat. The players played with more spirit as they are becoming more and more comfortable and adjusting to the speed of play expected by the first-year coaching staff.

The Owls will use that comfort level as they continue to vie for positions, adjust to new positions as well as new expectations and schemes for Saturday's scrimmage, the second of 2012.

"We will continue to evaluate," said Carl Pelini, FAU's head football coach about Saturday's scrimmage. "I want this team to develop a physical attitude and that is what we will look for."

Graham Wilbert began team session one under center with a focus on the running game. He handed off to Jonathan Wallace for a 45-yard score. Stephen Curtis faked to Travis Jones who gained five. Linebacker Randell Johnson then stuffed the receiver near the line of scrimmage. Defensive back Christian Milstead followed by keeping running back Travis Jones from turning the corner.

Team session two began with Jonathan Wallace rushing for a gain of three. Wallace was pulled out of bounds on the next play by linebacker Toney Moore. Curtis then ran and followed it up with a connection to Damian Fortner across the middle. It was Fortner's first action after several days of rehab. Curtis then kept for a gain of 30 to end session two.

Team three began with an Andrew Bolognese interception of a pressured Curtis. The following play Cory Henry recorded a sack.
