BOCA RATON, FL - The Florida Atlantic University football team began spring drills Monday under the direction of first year head coach Carl Pelini.

It wasn't just the coaching staff that was new. The day began with a walk through followed by stretching and even the stretching was focused on up tempo and finishing. The Owls went through the paces of individual work but it was team drills that bared no resemblance of the past. Gone were the huddles and the whistles ending plays. Every play was finished and every ball that hit the ground was picked up by the defense and returned.

Responsibility for the little things will be the focus of the 2012 spring as well as work habits.

Alex Deleon had a catch through the middle. Christan Milstead deflected a pass which Winfred Strickland hauled in for the interception. The day for football began with "Pro Day" where nine former Owls worked out for NFL and CFL scouts. Practice ended with walk-on tryouts for the 2012 squad. More than 60 young men attended the post-practice workout. The Owls will be back on the practice field Wednesday, March 21 and Friday, March 23.

Season tickets for the 2012 season, the first under Pelini are on sale and can be purchased by calling 1-866-FAU-OWLS.
