BOCA RATON, FL - Florida Atlantic University's football team today announced the 2010 freshman class, comprised of 11 individuals who signed NCAA National Letters of Intent. Cory Henry signed this time one year ago, but enrolled at FAU in January. Henry brings the newcomer total to 12.

"This has been an unusual year due to the fact that we just had a few spots available under the maximum scholarship limits," said Howard Schnellenberger, FAU's football head coach. "With that in mind, we are pleased with the players who have elected to join us. It is one of the strongest classes and we may add more as time goes by."

The 2010 class is the most diverse geographically and shows the promise for a team coming off bowl game victories two of the last three seasons.

Notes: This makes the fourth class to have two out of state players. In 2006, there were two players: Eli Cranor (Arkansas) and Rob Housler (Texas). Just three classes (2003, 2005 and 2007) were comprised of only players from Florida.

Kurt Van Valkenburgh, FAU football assistant head coach and defensive coordinator, made the announcement for the team on behalf of Schnellenberger, as he and two former players are currently preparing for the Texas vs. the Nation Collegiate All-Star Game scheduled for Saturday, February 6 in El Paso, Texas.

Steven Curtis is the first player to join the program from the state of South Carolina..
