Boca Raton, FL - The Florida Atlantic University football team suffered a 35-21 loss to the University of Louisiana in the 2012 season finale at the FAU Stadium on Saturday. The Owls conclude the season with a 3-9 record.
Sophomore wide receiver William Dukes set a school record with 204 receiving yards and two touchdowns in the loss.
Dukes' first score came early in the game on a 75-yard touchdown from senior quarterback Graham Wilbert. The score tied the game at 7-7 after Louisiana's Terrance Broadway scored on a 77-yard rush on the third play of the game.
FAU took a 14-7 lead after an 11-yard rushing touchdown by junior running back Jonathan Wallace in the final minute of the first quarter.
The Ragin' Cajuns (8-4, 6-2 Sun Belt) scored a pair of touchdowns in the second quarter to hold a 21-14 halftime advantage. Louisiana's Alonzo Harris scored on a two-yard scamper with 7:17 left in the third quarter gave to the visitors a 28-14 lead.
FAU's Dukes came through again with a 42-yard touchdown reception early in the fourth quarter from Wilbert.
Dukes' school record surpassed the mark of Anthony Cressinger-Hill's 183 receiving yard performance against Hawai'i on September 4, 2004. Dukes caught nine passes.
Louisiana's Harris scored his third rushing touchdown of the game to secure the victory with a two-yard score with 7:06 left in the game.
FAU's Wilbert threw for 379 yards and two touchdowns in his final collegiate game. He completed 25-of-38 passes.
Wallace gained 86 yards on 18 carries, while Damian Fortner had 41 yards on the ground.
