MIAMI (AP) - Running back Clint Wilson scored two touchdowns as St. Mary's defeated Florida Atlantic 24-10 at Pro Player Stadium Saturday.
St. Mary's (4-3) snapped a three game road losing streak, while Florida Atlantic (3-3) loss broke a two-game winning streak at home.
The Gaels' offense, ranked second in the country in Division 1-AA, amassed 411 yards total offense and 305 of them came courtesy of their running game. Their defense was able to hold Florida Atlantic to just 85 yards rushing.
The Gaels' sacked Florida Atlantic's quarterback Jared Allen four times and forced the Owls to turn the ball over four times.
In the fourth quarter, Myron Chivis stopped a Florida Atlantic drive when he picked off a pass at their own 1-yard line. During the third quarter, with St. Mary's leading 17-10, Weston Borba intercepted Allen at the Owls 30-yard line.
Turnovers plagued both teams in the first half.
The Owls scored on their opening possession on a 66-yard drive, capped by a
2-yard touchdown run by Doug Parker.
