2012: Saw action in six games and time as a starter...recorded two tackles in the season opener and three at Middle Tennessee where he also forced a fumble...at ULM he had two tackle assists and a quarterback hurry...tallied a solo versus FIU to end the season with eight tackles (8: 4-4).
2011: Saw action in four games...recorded his first tackle of the year, a solo, at North Texas also added another versus ULM.
2010: Saw action in eight games...was in a mid-season rotation until an injury slowed his playing time...had six tackles on the year, including four solo tackles and one for a loss of three years...recorded his first collegiate tackle in FAU's home game versus Michigan State at Ford Field...had a season and career-high three tackles at Texas and closed out the season with two solo tackles versus Middle Tennessee as well as his tackle for a loss of three yards.
2009: Used the year to redshirt and to move exclusively to the defensive side of the ball.
High School: Played for Jody Stouffer at Lee County High School where he had 32 tackles, 10 were solo, five for a loss and four sacks...played in the 2008 Shrine Bowl featuring North Carolina vs. South Carolina All-Stars...three-sport athlete (football, basketball and track)...member of the National Honor Society...three-year member of the academic all-conference in three sports.
Personal: Political science major... son of Harry and Laura Stryffeler...born in Durham, NC...Grandfather Jim Heinike played for Syracuse University and professionally for the NFL's San Francisco 49ers.
