2009: Moved into the starting middle linebacker position and assumed the leadership role...led the team much of the season until illness caught up with him and he missed three starts...concluded the year with 97 tackles, which ranked him no. 72 nationally with 8.1 a game....made his starting debut versus Nebraska with nine tackles and followed it up the next week at South Carolina with nine...then upped the bar with back-to-back 13 tackle games and became the league tackle leader...battled the flu much of the season's remainder but did have one more double-digit game with 10 at Louisiana...recorded 7.5 tackles for a loss of 11 yards while also breaking up three passes and recovering two fumbles while forcing a fumble at Troy...recoveries were against North Texas and Troy.
Motor City Bowl: Traveled with squad and saw action in his second bowl.
2008: Played in all but one game...recorded 11 tackles on the season and was a key part of special teams...had a season-high four tackles, one solo, at ULL
New Orleans Bowl: Member of the traveling squad that made the program's first bowl appearance and earned the program's first bowl victory...worked primarily on special teams.
2007: Played in every game...recorded a game-high two tackles twice, the first was against Oklahoma State, the second was against Louisiana-Monroe...grabbed a fumble recovery in the season opening Middle Tennessee game...snagged another at Lafayette...blocked a kick in Lafayette game to help preserve the come-from-behind victory...consistent member of the special teams unit.
High School: Played for Bob Head at Olympia High School, where he recorded 110 tackles, 85 solos and 25 assists with seven blocked kicks...earned All-Orange County and All-District honors and was Olympia's Athlete of the Year....played in the East- West metro Senior All-Star Game...three-sport athlete (football, weightlifting and track).
