Joined the Florida Atlantic program in 2009 as an intern and was elevated to graduate assistant in the spring of 2010.

Worked hand-in-hand with the new defensive coordinator where he focused his attention on opponent film breakdown, practice play cards, scouting report and self-scouting data. He also organized the weekly cut-ups for defensive coaches and players as well as game-day duties. He will continue in the same capacity in 2011 with the addition of assisting in the move to a 3-4 front.

He returned to South Florida upon his graduation from Hampden-Sydney College where he served as a quarterback from 2005-08. Fitzgerald completed his B.S. in psychology in 2009.

He gained his prep experience at Pine Crest High School in Fort Lauderdale where he graduated in 2005.
