Hopp is responsible for compiling weekly scouting reports and providing a defensive breakdown of opponents. He focuses primarily on the operation of the offensive line and coordinates the defensive scout team. He assists with game-day coordination, communicates with the on-field coaches from the booth on game days and recommends strategies for improved performance during the game. He also aids in recruiting by evaluating high school and JUCO film, and assists on official and unofficial visits.
While playing on the offensive line at Slippery Rock, Hopp was a three-year starter and received the PSAC Scholar Athlete Award all four years from 2007 to 2011. He was named second team Division II Capital One Academic All-American and received the Division II ADA Academic Achievement Award in 2008 to 2011. Was the team captain in his senior year and was a member of the 2011 PSAC Western Division Conference Championship team. He also received second team ALL-PSAC West Honors in 2011 and was recognized for his performance on and off the field with the Dr. Richard McLachlan Award for Excellence.
