Question from Rick
I recently read one of your quotes:
"We don't have a third scorer...I have to figure out a way to get one other
guy to be a true scoring threat."
I wanted to inquire about the two Owls yet to play this season, and how they
may fit this need. Where do you see Sammy and Jamal fitting in offensively
for the team when they are able to take to the hardwood?
Response from Head Coach Rex Walters
Thank you for the question and interest in FAU Basketball. Sammy and Jamal have a chance of being very good basketball players for our team. Sammy comes with an awful lot of NCAA Tournament experience along with the fact that he has always played on Championship Teams. He will be a good one for us and if he continues to work hard, will be on the floor during game time. Jamal has been injured from the first day of classes and therefore his development has been slowed down. I hope he will return to full contact practice soon and will definitely bring something to the team once this happens. Both are inside players that bring different things to the table. Where they fit in with the team will be determined when they are cleared to play in games for us. There is no need to speculate right now. I do believe that they will be good ones, if they continue to work hard on the court and in the weight room.
We are in need of more scoring punch from players other than Paul and Carlos, having said that, we need more of a defensive effort from Paul and Carlos. We need to grow up in a lot of areas. We have improved, but have a lot more room for even more improvement. Thanks for the questions and support!
