I hope this letter finds everyone doing well. The team has been working hard during this first month of school, both in the classroom and on the court. We are very proud of the academic standards that last year's senior class set. Quinton Young and David Anderson both received their degrees and Lamar Moore is currently taking his last class this semester so he can receive his degree in December. Fred Marshall has one more class remaining and is beginning the process of completing it. On the court, Rodney Webb signed a contract and is off to a great start in his professional basketball career in France, picking up a double-double his first game as a member of the Antibes.
This year's team, led by seniors Brent Crews and DeAndre Rice, is working hard on the court and in the weight room during this pre-season. We are very excited to welcome Juan Carlos Santana to our staff as our Strength and Conditioning Coach. He has a great deal of experience and a wealth of knowledge to share with our young men. JC has trained many professional athletes in the NBA, NFL, NHL, MLB, and professional boxing. He even trained me towards the end of my career and I can honestly say that JC had me in the best shape of my life! Juan Carlos will help elevate our program to another level.
My staff and I have been working hard on the recruiting trail this past month. We came back from the July period and were hitting the phones hard with calls in August. In September we started getting out and visiting with current seniors and watching them play, as well as evaluating underclassmen too. Per NCAA rules we are not allowed to comment about recruits, but I feel good about the results that we will receive in the early signing period come November.
We begin practice October 13th and we look forward to getting started as we prepare for a challenging non-conference schedule, as well as the competitive schedule of the Sun Belt Conference. If you haven't already done so, you can obtain a copy of our season schedule on our website. We look forward to seeing you out at FAU Arena supporting the Red and Blue!
P.S. Keep the questions and comments coming!!!!!
