Question from Rick
The Arena is looking very sharp from the outside. I canít wait to take in a game.

Speaking of game, when is the schedule going to be released? I would like to get a season ticket early this year with all of the changes going on.

Also, I assume there will be an exhibition on the schedule early on - perhaps in November? Who will that be against?

Hope all is going great, the guys are having productive preseason work-outs, and that the recruiting trail is heating up for you!

Go Owls!

SBC Champs in 2007-2008!

Response from Head Coach Rex Walters
Rick,
I am sorry for taking so long with getting back to you. I have been on the road recruiting and it has been difficult getting to the blog. The Schedule is going to be great and please log onto our FAU Sports website to get all the details. Thanks for your support!

Question from Tom
Good Afternoon Coach,

I was wondering if you ever allow people to watch your practices? I coached in the Phila Catholic league and recently moved to Florida to be a counselor at a high school in Ft Myers, Fl. I really enjoy watching basketball and always enjoyed following you as a player.

> Thanks for your time

Response from Head Coach Rex Walters
Tom
We always open our practices and would love to have you. Just call the Basketball Office ahead of time so we know that you are coming. Thanks for the question and I look forward to seeing you at practice in October.

Question from Bill
Do you know if any of the away games will be televised?

Response from Head Coach Rex Walters
Bill,
There is no question that we will be on TV again this year. All of the details have not been released, but we will update everyone on the website when the TV Schedule is released.

Thanks Bill!

Question from James
Hey Coach,
Thank you so much for posting the new schedule! Looks like 12 home games and that's fantastic.

Only thing better would be a Sun Belt Conference Title *cough* so hopefully you're going to put the players through hell so they can deliver, especially against WKU! We need to be the only Sun Belt school winning both titles -- in football and basketball -- in the same year. I hope you're telling the players that's what you expect from them *cough* Hopefully, for the first home game in December Athletics can put together a "Burrow Bash" with music and food and shirt-making tables and everything. I'd like to see that become a tradition... first game comes with the "Burrow Bash" that grows bigger every year.

Owl Country (all FAU students) will be there, wearing red, cheering loud. I wish the Burrow itself was red and blue. I don't know why FAU doesn't use its own colors...?

Also, can you get us a game against UCF/FSU/UF next year? Especially UCF so we could go on the road and hang out in their new arena.

My hope is that after the football stadium gets built (in 2010), FAU builds us a first-class basketball arena too... with the large television thing hanging down in the middle, huge glass doors, restaurants like Subway in the lobby, Owl head logos everywhere, and 5 foot long red and blue banners hanging off poles all the way around it... think about it.

FAU deserves the best so they can be the best.

Response from Head Coach Rex Walters
James,
Thanks for all the good ideas! We are excited about this season and the opportunity to compete for the Sun Belt Conference Championship. The school year has started and we have already started to prepare for the season. We will try to get some of your ideas done (no promises) and I look forward to seeing you at the Burrow!

Sincerely,
Rex Walters

Question from Justin
Mr. Walters,
Great job on the schedule. I hope your guys know that every single game except Kansas they can win. Don't want to say that they can't win at Kansas, but I've seen them ranked as the number one team in the country. URI and USF should be winnable games. BC is in a rebuilding year after graduating a bunch of guys. This could really be a great year for the Owls. I like how were not on the road for entire non-conference schedule like previous years.

I'll see you at Monmouth and if URI or BC are on a weekend I'll be there too.

Response from Head Coach Rex Walters
Justin,
Thank you for the compliments on the schedule. Jeff Guin works very hard to put together the best possible schedule for our basketball program. Coach Guin and I talk about it often to make sure we are covering all the bases. There is not a team on the schedule that we can not beat. There is no question that some teams present more problems than others. We will work very hard and if we are healthy, we will have a chance to be pretty darn good. I look forward to seeing you at the games and thanks for the support.

Go Owls!
