Question from J-me
I have read that DeAndre has now worked out with the Miami Heat twice since
they have invited prospects to Pre-Draft workouts. With your experience in
the NBA, does a two-time invitation to work outs say something about the
interest in the Player, such as DeAndre? Could they be considering him at
#39 (2nd round)?
We all know and love his skills on the court. I personally think he would do
great as a back up to J-Will. Alot tougher than Chris Quinn was this season.
I have been quoted as comparing DeAndres skills to the likes of aggressive
like Deron Williams, shooting range like Chauncey Billups and the vision
like Jason Williams. All of which would make him a great sleeper pick for
the Miami Heat, or am I just playing favorites now?
Response from Head Coach Rex Walters
J-me,
If anyone is bias towards DeAndre it will be his coach. DeAndre is a very talented young man and I really want things to work out for him. The NBA is the best of the best (obviously) in terms of talent and I am happy that the Heat has given DeAndre a chance to show what he can do. I really don't want to compare him to other NBA pros. He has the ability to pass, handle and shoot with the best of them. I will continue to help him prepare for the future both on and off the court. Let's all keep our fingers crossed for Dre. He has the talent to play at the highest levels (regardless of whether or not he gets drafted). There is no doubt in my mind that he has an awful lot of work to do to get and stay there. In my mind, he is a pro. At what level is really up to him.
Thanks for supporting Dre and us!
