Question from Jordan
Are we getting any big-time recruits for next season?

Response from Head Coach Rex Walters
Jordan,
Thank you for your question about our recruits and recruiting efforts. I am very happy with what we have accomplished so far. With the signing of Dago, Shavon and Jimmie we have accomplished some of the things we wanted to do in the early signing period. All three have competed and faired well on a national level. Having said that, let's remember that they are first year players and will have an awful lot to learn when they get here. There is no doubt in my mind that all three are capable of great things. We have a lot of work ahead of us, but all three have a chance to have a major impact on this basketball program. Sincerely,
Rex Walters

Question from Adam
Hey Coach!
Great wins over North Texas and Troy! Those are both good teams.

I believe this team is on the upswing and I am especially impressed with Nwoji's progress.

I think once Sammy Hernandez realizes he has the power and especially the size to dominate the court, plus Alacron solidifying his three point shot success, we're going to be a monster team.

Also, have you seen the renderings of the new basketball arena/innovation village?

Overall plan along Lee Street:

Closer, left of the football stadium:

Do you know anything about it, regarding what dates or how many seats? Will it be Big East quality?

Thanks Coach!

Response from Head Coach Rex Walters
Adam,
Thank you for the kind words. I would like to think that we have started to play some of the kind of basketball we are capable of. With five first year players, our development as a team has taken longer than all of us would have liked. If we continue to work hard at practice, we will have a say in what happens with the Sun Belt Conference. Carderro has steadily improved and no one on the team had more thrust upon him. Sammy has also started playing better and I would love to see him build upon his improved play in the last few weeks.

I have to be honest with you when I say that I don't know much about what is going on with the Innovation Village. I know that there is an awful lot of speculation about what FAU will be doing in the years ahead. It is a lot of fun to think about all of the improvements that are being done from a Facilities Standpoint. I want this basketball program as well as our other sports, to continue and grow and become a team to be reckoned with on a national level. It will not happen over night, but I promise to work my tail off to help us get there. Thank you again for your kind words and support.

Go Owls,
Rex Walters

Question from Tim
Coach,
I am wondering why the team seems to go away from Carlos sometimes he is a great player and needs to have the ball in his hands for most of the game like he did last year even with Rice being there he and Brent made sure he got the ball what do you think?

Response from Head Coach Rex Walters
Tim,
Thank you for the question and comments. We definitely make it a point to get the ball inside and Carlos is pretty good when he gets it in there. Brent Crews and DeAndre Rice were both very good post feeders. We miss having those two, but I will also say that all of our post players must continue to work for post position (deep spots) as opposed to just trying to get the ball. We will continue to make Carlos and the rest of our post players a primary option in our offense. Thanks again for the question!

Sincerely,
Rex Walters
