BOCA RATON, FL - Florida Atlantic sophomore guard Raymond Taylor was named Sun Belt Player of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday.
Taylor was instrumental in the Owls winning their first two conference games and back-to-back conference road games, neither of which had happened since the 2006-07 season. He scored 24 points in his first start of the year, an 82-77 overtime win at Troy and followed that up with 20 points in a 60-58 win over ULM on Sunday. For the season, Taylor is second on the team in scoring (10.7) and assists (3.8) and also averages 4.2 rebounds a game.
Carlos Monroe was the last Owl to earn Sun Belt Player of the week honors, back on February 19, 2007. FAU wraps up its five game road trip on Wednesday, when they play DePaul. Tip-off is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. eastern and live audio will be available at www.fausports.com.
