Opening Tip With Matt Doherty

Boca Raton, FL - Florida Atlantic University's men's basketball team will return to its home court for the first time since Oct. 24, the day hurricane Wilma damaged the Arena forcing the squad to practice at three different facilities.

The Owls (0-2) will also take to the court, at home, for the first time under the direction of Matt Doherty, who holds a 75-60 career coaching record.

FAU will open its home schedule against one of the Atlantic Sun Conference's newest members, University of North Florida (2-0). It is also the first 2005-2006 A-Sun match-up.

The Owls are 10-9 all-time in home openers and 5-5 in conference openers. They are expected to be led by DeAndre Rice who scored 19 against Northwestern. Defensively, Rodney Webb averages 7.0 rebounds per game.

UNF is led by A-Sun Player of the Week Alain Laroche. Laroche, a south Florida native, has scored 20 or more in UNF's first two games as a Division I program and pulled down 14 rebounds in his last outing.

Season Tickets are available at $96 for adult general admission and $68 for youth, senior citizens and FAU employees. Single game tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for students.
