BOCA RATON, FL - The first opportunity for fans to see the 2012-13 Florida Atlantic University men's basketball team will come during an exhibition game against crosstown rival Lynn University on Monday, November 3, at 7 p.m. at the FAU Arena.
The exhibition will be the only one for the Owls before they begin the regular season at #11 North Carolina on Sunday, November 11 as part of the EA Sports Maui Invitational. FAU is in its fifth season under Head Coach Mike Jarvis, who has a chance to become the winningest coach in school history this season.
Senior guard Greg Gantt highlights the returners for FAU. Gantt led the Owls in scoring last season and is on pace to become the school's all-time leading scorer. He is joined by classmates Jordan McCoy and Andre Mattison, as well as Pablo Bertone and Kelvin Penn. The trio of Gantt, McCoy and Mattison are also within striking distance of having the most wins of any senior class in school history.
Parade All-American Stefan Moody is the biggest name in this year's freshman class. The Kissimmee, FL native averaged 27.9 ppg as a senior. He is joined by Chris Bryant , who was a two-time state champion while attending Rickards High School. Dragan Sekelja, a Baylor transfer, is expected to see significant time in the frontcourt. Rounding out the class are Cavon Baker, DeVonte Thornton, Javier Lacunza and Jackson Trapp. San Francisco transfer Justin Raffington will sit out this season and be eligible to join to the Owls in 2013-14.
