BOCA RATON, FL - Florida Atlantic University head men's basketball coach Mike Jarvis began his fifth season at the helm of the program as the team began preseason practice on Friday.

FAU took to court with established veterans like Greg Gantt and Pablo Bertone being joined by eight newcomers, including Parade All-American Stefan Moody and former Florida Class 3A Player of the Year Chris Bryant. Junior transfer Dragan Sekelja is eligible after sitting out last season due to NCAA rules.

"They are talented, hungry and ready to get to work," said Jarvis of the team. While the Owls will be focusing on their team goals, there are also several other notable achievements in range this season. Greg Gantt is 265 points away from becoming the school's all-time leading scorer. The senior class of Gantt, Jordan McCoy and Andre Mattison is 17 wins away from being the all-time winningest senior class in FAU history. Coach Jarvis is also 17 wins away from recording the most wins in school history.

The Owls open their 2012-13 with an exhibition game against crosstown rival Lynn on November 6. Regular season play opens on Sunday, November 11 when they face North Carolina as part of the EA Sports Maui Invitational. Live audio of all of FAU's games will be available at fausports.com and ESPN760AM.
