BOCA RATON, FL - Florida Atlantic men's basketball associate head coach Mike Jarvis II has been named one of the best assistants in the Sun Belt conference by the website RecruitDirt.com.

The rankings were based on recruiting ability as well as opinions of the website's staff and fellow coaches from throughout the country.

Jarvis II has been a key part of the resurgence of the Owls' program, including last season's record setting year where the team matched school records for longest winning streak (eight) and most wins in a season (21). He also helped the Owls' capture the Sun Belt Regular Season Championship and advance to the postseason NIT, just the second postseason appearance in school history.

"I have always said that Mike will one day be not just a good head coach, but a great head coach and this is just another step in that process. I'm very proud of him both as a head coach and as a father," said Mike Jarvis, FAU's head men's basketball coach.

The Owls officially open practice for the 2011-12 season on Saturday, October 15.
