BOCA RATON, FL - Carlos Monroe of the Florida Atlantic University men's basketball team has been named a member of the Honorable Mention Preseason Mid-Major All-American Team by CollegeHoops.net, the site announced Monday.

Monroe, who was named Second-Team All-Sun Belt in 2006-07 as a sophomore and was the only player to rank in the top-seven players in both scoring and rebounding, narrowly missed averaging a double-double with 18.4 points and 9.4 rebounds. He finished 56th nationally in the scoring race, and 23rd nationally in rebounding.

The Philadelphia, PA native had the second-most efficient offensive season in school history, hitting 59.7 percent of his field goal attempts. That mark also led the Sun Belt Conference.

His 200 made field goals and 496 points were the most for any sophomore in FAU history.

Western Kentucky's Courtney Lee (Second Team), New Orleans' Bo McCalebb (Second Team) and Arkansas State's Adrian Banks (Honorable Mention) were the other Sun Belt players honored.

The Owls will open the 2007-08 season on the road at Rhode Island as part of the Glenn Wilkes Invitational on November 9. The Owls have finished .500 or better in each of the last two seasons.
