BOCA RATON, FL - Former Florida Atlantic University standout Mike Bell has signed a professional basketball contract with a team in Turkey. Bell, who starred at FAU the past two seasons, is now a member of Tuborg Izmir in the Turkish First Division.

Bell played his junior and seniors seasons in an Owl uniform. As a senior in 2004-05, he led the Owls with 19.1 points and 9.3 rebounds per game. He was named the Atlantic Sun Conference Player of the Year in 2004-05, becoming the first Owl to receive the honor.

In just two years, Bell became the fifth player in FAU history to reach the 1,000-point plateau. He ranks fifth with 1,001 points. Bell also posted 514 rebounds in his two years, ranking him third on FAU's career list. Bell averaged 18.5 points and 9.5 rebounds per game, ranking him first in both career categories. Bell is one of just two Owls all-time to have posted 1,000 points and 500 rebounds in his career.

Florida Atlantic begins its regular season November 18 at Colgate. Tickets for the 2005-06 campaign are available by calling 1-(866) FAU OWLS or via the internet at www.fausports.com.
