BOCA RATON, FL - Florida Atlantic University football and men's basketball games will be broadcast this season on ESPN Radio. ESPN 760 AM is the flagship station and will broadcast in Palm Beach County and southern Martin County, and WLVJ1040 AM will air in Broward County. Athletics has a multi-year agreement with ESPN Radio who has been covering FAU since 2009 with play-by-play coverage for football and basketball games. FAU men's basketball games will be carried solely by ESPN 760 AM.
For football games, Ken LaVicka does play-by-play with FAU alum and former Owl football player Jason Pugh providing color commentary. Alex Petakas serves as studio host. LaVicka will also serve as the play-by-play voice for Owls basketball, while Evan Cohen will provide color during home games.
"There is no better time to be a partner with FAU than right now as we watch the football program kick off its first season in a beautiful new on-campus stadium," said Steve Politziner, general manager of ESPN 760. "ESPN 760 has been a part of the past two incredibly exciting seasons of Owls football and men's basketball, and we are looking forward to being a part of Owls' athletics in 2011 and beyond."
Broadcasts for football will begin Saturday, September 3, when FAU goes up to Gainesville, FL to take on the University of Florida at 7 p.m. The broadcast schedule also will include both the Fall FAU SportsPage Radio Show featuring FAU Head Football Coach Howard Schnellenberger, broadcast from the Duffy's on Saint Andrew's Boulevard, as well as the Spring season of the show featuring FAU Head Men's Basketball Coach Mike Jarvis, which will be broadcast live from the Hooters on Glades Road.
"ESPN 760 AM has been a great partner with FAU athletics over the past two years including the station's programming and promotions as well as on the station's website," said Dexter LaMont, FAU's Senior Associate AD for External Relations . "The energy and enthusiasm that ESPN760 has shown in covering FAU athletics over the past couple of seasons made the decision to continue the partnership a very easy one."
Owl fans regionally, nationally and internationally can also continue to follow the game at www.fausports.com.
