BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic University Men's Head Basketball Coach Michael Curry has announced updates to his coaching staff. Ron Oliver and Jorge Sanz have been promoted to assistant coaches, while Ronald Burrell will join the staff as a graduate assistant. Deon Curry will be the new director of basketball operations.
Oliver and Sanz were both already on staff, with Oliver previously serving as the director of basketball operations while Sanz was the video coordinator/operations assistant. Burrell will be a graduate assistant, having recently completed a successful playing career overseas, where he won four championships and a MVP award. He will be pursuing his MBA in Sport Management at FAU. Curry will join his father’s staff as director of basketball operations after filling the same position at Campbell University for the previous four seasons.
“Change on a coaching staff is always difficult but the level of familiarity that the student-athletes and I have with Ron and Jorge will help with the transition. Both of these individuals will bring a lot to the team in their new coaching roles,” said Curry. “I'm excited about Ron (Burrell) and Deon joining the staff as they both played basketball at a high level with Ron's championship international experience and Deon having played at Michigan State. We expect this blend of familiarity and new to translate well on the court.”
