BOCA RATON, Fla. - Florida Atlantic University men's basketball will take part in the 2013 2K Sports Classic benefiting Wounded Warrior Project. FAU will face Boston College on Sunday, Nov. 17 in a regional round game before traveling to the University of Detroit for their sub-regional games in the tournament. The regional round game against BC will be televised on ESPNU.
The tournament is in its 19th year, and the Owls are one of eight teams that will take part in the sub-regional portion of the event, in addition to the four teams who are bound for New York City and the championship round.
Prior to the championship round, the four teams headed to New York City will host a pair of regional round games Tuesday, Nov. 12 through Sunday, Nov. 17. The sub-regional teams are Boston University, the University of Detroit, Eastern Washington University, FAU, Long Island University-Brooklyn, Stony Brook University, the University of Toledo and UC-Irvine.
The championship round will be played at the Madison Square Garden in New York City on Thursday, Nov. 21 and Friday, Nov. 22. The championship round teams include BC, the University of Indiana, the University of Connecticut and the University of Washington.
The eight subregional teams then will split up, with four teams going to Detroit and the other four teams headed to Irvine, Calif., where they will play in a three-day round robin tournament Friday, Nov. 22 through Sunday, Nov. 24. On Friday, Nov. 22, FAU also will play the host Titans, followed by Stony Brook and Toledo on Saturday, Nov. 23 and Sunday, Nov. 24, respectively. Game times are still to be determined.
