Peter Gash was named assistant men's basketball coach.
Aug. 4, 2011
Gash served as director of basketball operations for the past two seasons after originally joining the staff as a video coordinator. He replaces Matt McCall, who returned to the University of Florida as an assistant.
"We decided to hire from within based on the success of our program. I'm confident that Pete will step right in and perform admirably," said Coach Jarvis. "His work ethic and loyalty to the program are without question and he will undoubtedly help our efforts as we continue the process of building a successful program here at FAU."
Prior to coming to FAU, Gash served as a graduate assistant under Tom Crean at Indiana University where he was responsible for numerous duties, including video editing and exchange, underclassmen recruiting and on-court player development.
Gash was hired by LaSalle in 2007 as video coordinator, making him the youngest person in the country to hold that position. In addition to his video editing, video exchange and player development responsibilities, he was in charge of opponent scouting and running the scout team for head coach Dr. John Giannini.
Gash served as a student assistant while earning his bachelor's degree in Sport Management from Lynn University. While there, he was a part of the team that advanced to the 2004-05 Final Four and set a school record for wins in a season (29).
Gash was a four year starter at Solebury Prep in Solebury, PA where he was a teammate of two-time world champion Andrew Bynum.
