April 13, 2011

BOCA RATON, FL - Brett Royster was named a Mid-Major Defensive All-American by

Royster, who recently completed his Florida Atlantic basketball career, was a two-time Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Year and is the Sun Belt's all-time blocked shots leader, tallying 301 in his four year career. He also owns the three best single season blocked shots marks in school history, including 97 this past season.

He also made the All-Sun Belt Third Team after averaging 8.6 points and 6.3 rebounds as a senior. Royster is one of only two Sun Belt players on the list, joined by Trevor Ottley of Middle Tennessee. Rather than assembling first, second, third and fourth team squads, the Mid-Major Defensive All-America team is one team consisting of 20 players. Division I coaches and NBA scouts are part of the selection process, but final decision rests with the staff.
