BOCA RATON, Fla. - Florida Atlantic University senior shooting guard Gerdarius Troutman was recognized by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) as Academic All-District on Thursday. He the first FAU player to make the team since Justin Raffington in 2014.
Troutman has been outstanding both on the court and in the classroom in his two seasons at FAU. He holds a 3.74 GPA in communications and made the Conference USA All-Academic Team last season.
The Butler, Georgia, product averaged 9.4 points and shot 42.6 percent from behind the arc in his first season with the squad, and has been even better so far this year at 12.8 points (third on the team) and a 43.6 3-point percentage. His 43.1 career 3-point percentage is third all-time in school history and he is already 10th in program history with 137 career made 3’s despite playing less than two full seasons.
Troutman is now eligible for the CoSIDA Academic All-American Team, which will be announced in March.
