FIU Game Notes

Boca Raton, FL - The Florida Atlantic University men's basketball team will travel south on Thursday to face rival FIU. The Owls are looking to regain some momentum, having lost four of their last five games.

Thursday's game could prove pivotal in seeding for the conference tournament, as the Panthers (12-10, 7-6 Sun Belt) are currently in third place in the East, just a game ahead of the fifth place Owls (11-13, 6-7).

Greg Gantt hit the game winning free throws in last season's 66-64 Owl victory in Miami. FIU was able to get revenge with a 76-56 win in the second game last season. That game was the first time in four meetings that the margin of victory was more than three points. It also snapped the Owls' five game winning streak in the series. Gantt leads Florida Atlantic in scoring (21.1 ppg, 7th in the nation). He was a 2nd team preseason all-league selection.
