Delph had an outstanding week in FAU's second Conference USA road trip to Texas. Against North Texas on Thursday night, Delph posted his 12th career double-double with 21 points and 10 rebounds in a 59-53 loss to the Mean Green. Less than 48 hours later, Delph notched 20 points, including 14 in the second half, in a 63-62 win over Rice. He also pulled down five rebounds, and is now fifth place in school history with 554 career rebounds.
For the weekend, he averaged 20.5 points and 7.5 rebounds. Delph leads the team in both scoring (13.9 ppg) and rebounding (9.0 rpg) on the season. Delph earned C-USA Player of the Week honors for his efforts in Texas.
Gabriel also put together a career week, scoring 20-plus points in back-to-back games. At UTSA, the junior had a career-high 27 points along with nine rebounds, three blocks, one steal and one assist. Her offensive outburst helped fuel the Owls' 99-point performance, the most points scored by a FAU team in conference play since 1999. Gabriel kept her offensive pace going at UAB, scoring 24 points along with seven rebounds, one block, one assist and one steal.
Gabriel is leading C-USA in three-point shooting percentage in conference games, shooting 71.4 percent (10-of-14) from beyond the arc. She has made nine three pointers in the last four games after making only four in her career previously. Gabriel was named to the C-USA Honor Roll for her performances last week.
Delph and the men's basketball team will host a pair of C-USA games this week at FAU Arena. The Owls will face Louisiana Tech on Thursday and Southern Miss on Saturday. Both games will tip off at 7 p.m.
Gabriel and the women's basketball team will travel to WKU to take on the Lady Toppers on Saturday at 3 p.m. (EST). The Owls will return home next week to host Middle Tennessee on Feb. 8 and North Texas on Feb. 10. Both of those games are set for 7 p.m. tips.
