BOCA RATON, FL - The Florida Atlantic University men's basketball team hosts Western Kentucky on Thursday night.
FAU (8-12, 4-3 Sun Belt) is looking for its first three-game winning streak of the season in Thursday's contest, having defeated Troy and rival FIU in back-to-back games. Western Kentucky ended the Owls' school record tying eight game winning streak with a 57-53 victory in Boca Raton last season. An FAU victory would be the first ever over the Hilltoppers at home.
Junior Greg Gantt averaged 22 points in the team's two wins last week, including a season high 25 points in a 88-67 win over the Trojans last Thursday and the game winning free throws in a 66-64 win over the Panthers on Saturday. Gantt is currently second in the conference in scoring at 14.7 points per outing.
Western Kentucky (6-14, 2-5) defeated UALR 65-53 last Saturday. The win was the Hilltoppers' first under interim head coach Ray Harper, who took over as head coach on January 6.
Thursday's game is a "White-Out" and the first 1,000 students in attendance will receive free t-shirts. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. and the game will be televised on Fox College Sports. Live stats and audio of the game will also be available at www.fausports.com.
