Junior Guard Gregg Gantt Named Player of the Week for 3rd Straight Week

BOCA RATON, FL - Florida Atlantic University's men's and women's basketball faced Troy and North Texas over the weekend. Each team played two challenging games with strong performances by Greg Gantt and Chenise Miller. The duo earned FAU player of the week honors.

For his third week in a row, junior guard Greg Gantt gained the school's honor. Gantt maintained the high level of play he has been at all season with two more stellar performances last week. In Thursday's 80-59 win over Troy, he scored 23 points, had four rebounds and two assists. On Saturday, against North Texas, he scored 22 points despide being slowed with an injury, he also grabbed six rebounds and had an assist. For the season, Gantt is averaging 22.5 points, No. 3 nationally in scoring average, a game and currently sits 16th in Sun Belt history with 1,744 career points.

The men's basketball team will play the UALR Trojans on Thursday, January 24 at 8 p.m. FAU then heads to Arkansas State on Saturday, January 26 at 8:30 p.m. The game at ASU will be televised on CSS.

Junior forward Chenise Miller anchored Florida Atlantic in two home victories by averaging a double-double at 19.5 points and 11 rebounds for the week. She scored 22 points and matched her career high with 14 rebounds in a win over North Texas on Saturday, January 19. Miller's scoring was highlighted by 10-of-14 shooting from the floor and six offensive rebounds. Earlier in the week, the junior scored 17 points against Troy. Miller went 7-of-8 from the free throw line against the Trojans. The forward also had a defensive impact in the two double-digit victories with five blocks and four steals in the two games. She had a team-high four assists against Troy. For the season, Miller leads the Sun Belt Conference with 39 blocks. She ranks seventh in the league in scoring at 14.8 points and is fifth in the SBC at 7.8 rebounds per game.

While the women have shined at home, winning their last 11 games in The Burrow, they will be on the road this weekend with an 8 p.m. game at at UALR on Wednesday, January 23 and at Arkansas State on Saturday, January 26 at 6 p.m. also televised on CSS.
