Florida Atlantic University opened the game on an 11-1 run and did not trail in defeating Drake University 79-71 Thursday night in Boca Raton, FL. Raheim Brown led all scorers with 24 points as the Owls improved to 6-4 on the year.

FAU had four players in double figures with Andre Garner adding 15, Earnest Crumbley 14, and Jeff Cowans 10. The Owls used 55 percent shooting, including 64 percent in the second half to fend off all comeback attempts by the Bulldogs. FAU also took advantage of strong shooting from beyond the arc, finishing 9-of-19 from long range. Drake managed to pull to within 75-71 with 1:14 left, but the Owls scored the game's final four points from the free throw line.

"I have to commend our kids," said FAU head coach Sidney Green. "The coaches prepared them well over the break."

Brown finished 11-of-13 from the field and also tallied six rebounds and three blocks. Crumbley went 3-of-4 from beyond the arc and dished out a game-high seven assists. John Smart scored six points off the bench and had five assists in 23 minutes of action.
