TROY, AL - Despite terrific performances from seniors Carderro Nwoji, Paul Graham III and Carlos Monroe, Florida Atlantic lost to Troy 94-87 in a Sun Belt Conference game at the Trojan Arena Thursday.
The three seniors combined to score 74 of FAU's 87 points, with Graham pouring in a career-high 28 and Nwoji connecting on five 3s and clearing a career-high eight rebounds.
Florida Atlantic (4-7; 0-2 Sun Belt) began the season 3-1 but have since lost six of seven, including their first two versus the Sun Belt.
Troy (4-6; 1-1 Sun Belt) bounced back from an 81-53 loss at Middle Tennessee State. Five Trojan players scored in double-figures. Juniors Travis Lee and Michael Vogler each finished with 15.
Troy led by 12 in the first half but the Owls pulled ahead 61-58 on one of Nwoji's five 3-pointers with 15:22 left. The Trojans regained the advantage at 65-63, then held the Owls scoreless from 14:09 to 8:49, allowing the Trojans to win on their home floor.
Behind Graham's 28 and 23 apiece from Nwoji and Monroe, FAU rallied to trail 85-81 with 1:42 left, but the Trojans made 9 of 10 free throws to seal the win.
Brandon Hazard added 14 points for Troy and Richard Delk and Regis Huddleston scored 11 apiece.
Florida Atlantic returns to Alabama for its next game. The Owls are scheduled to play UAB on Monday, December 22 8 p.m ET.
