BOCA RATON, Fla. - Arkansas State’s Rashad Lindsey hit a floater as the buzzer sounded to help the Red Wolves (4-7) defeat the Florida Atlantic University men’s basketball team 64-63 on Saturday. The loss snapped the Owls’ four game winning streak and dropped their record to 6-4 on the season.
ASU scored the first six points of the game and built a lead as large as a dozen in the first half. The Owls rallied and Gerdarius Troutman hit a three-pointer with five seconds left to tie the score at 29 at the break.
The second was close the entire way, with neither team leading by more than four points. Justin Massey made a pair at the line to put FAU up 63-60 with 45 seconds remaining. The Red Wolves hit a basket with 32 seconds left and then forced a turnover, setting the stage for Lindsey’s dramatics.
- Ronald Delph had 16 points and seven rebounds to lead FAU in both categories. Delph scored 10 of his 16 in the second half.
- Gerdarius Troutman scored 15 points and grabbed five rebounds.
- Anthony Adger had 13 points to go along with five assists.
- The Owls made just four of their 16 attempts from behind the three-point line.
FAU makes its first trip outside of Florida, traveling to Texas Tech to face the Red Raiders. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m. ET and the game will air on Fox Sports Southwest Plus.
