The Flyers (8-2) made 46.8 percent of their field goal attempts, compared to 30.2 percent for the Owls (5-5).
FAU fell behind 8-0 in the early going, before the Owls answered with 12 consecutive points of their own to take the lead. Dayton outscored FAU 29-13 over the next 12 minutes to take a 37-21 lead with just over two minutes remaining before halftime. A pair of Moody free throws made the score 37-23 at the half.
The Owls found their offensive rhythm early in the second half and managed to cut the deficit to 10 on a couple of different occasions, but could never get any closer. Gantt scored 26 points, his fifth game of 20 or more points this season. Moody added 13 points, five rebounds and four assists.
