Owls Can't Hold Off Blue Demons, Fall 81-70

ROSEMONT, IL - A rally late in the first half proved critical in the Florida Atlantic University's men's basketball team's 81-70 loss to DePaul on Thursday night.

The Owls (3-7) led 33-26 at the 4:07 mark of the first half, when the Blue Demons (5-4) closed on a 12-4 run, capped off by a Cleveland Melvin putback at the buzzer, to take a 38-37 advantage at the break.

DePaul led by eight at the nine-minute mark of the second half, but Kelvin Penn split a trip to the free throw line and Jackson Trapp hit a three-pointer to cut the lead to four with 7:32 to go in the game. The Blue Demons scored five straight points and their lead never fell below seven points the rest of the game.

FAU was outrebounded 38-29 on the night, despite 12 boards from Justin Raffington. Pablo Bertone led the Owls with 30 points before fouling out, his second game of at least 30 points this season.

The Owls travel to face Maryland on Saturday. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. The game will air on Fox Sports South and will also be shown on Live audio will be available at and on ESPN 106.3 FM.
