ROSEMONT, IL - A rally late in the first half proved critical in the Florida Atlantic University's men's basketball team's 81-70 loss to DePaul on Thursday night.
The Owls (3-7) led 33-26 at the 4:07 mark of the first half, when the Blue Demons (5-4) closed on a 12-4 run, capped off by a Cleveland Melvin putback at the buzzer, to take a 38-37 advantage at the break.
DePaul led by eight at the nine-minute mark of the second half, but Kelvin Penn split a trip to the free throw line and Jackson Trapp hit a three-pointer to cut the lead to four with 7:32 to go in the game. The Blue Demons scored five straight points and their lead never fell below seven points the rest of the game.
The Owls travel to face Maryland on Saturday. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. The game will air on Fox Sports South and will also be shown on ESPN3.com. Live audio will be available at www.fausports.com and on ESPN 106.3 FM.
