BOCA RATON, FL - Jeff Cowans scored 21 points and Earnest Crumbley added 18 as Florida Atlantic University cruised past Nova Southeastern, 86-60, Tuesday night in Boca Raton, FL. With the win, FAU improves to 3-3 on the year while the Knights dropped to 1-3.
FAU led for the entire game and built a 39-25 halftime advantage. Crumbley scored 16 of his points in the first half with four treys. In the second half, the Owls never trailed by less than 12 points and led by as many as 30 points with 38 seconds remaining.
Avery Headley scored a career-high 15 points for the Owls while Wes Edwards set a team record with eight blocks.
Jeff Hamilton came off the bench to score 11 points. The junior went 4-for-6 from the field and 3-for-5 from beyond the arc.
FAU shot 55 percent from the field on 31-for-56 shooting. The Owls went 12-for-25 from beyond the arc as Crumbley went 4-for-9 and Cowans 3-for-7.
"We gave the players (Tuesday) off to catch up on rest and studies," said FAU head coach Sidney Green. "For them to come out and shoot 55 percent, I'm very proud"
NSU was led by Brandon Weiss who scored 16 points and hauled in a game-high eight rebounds. Eduardo Reguera and Kluis Wimbush each scored 12.
FAU now leads the overall series with NSU 13-1.
Florida Atlantic next hosts the University of Miami December 3 at 7:00pm.
