Final Stats

MIAMI, FL - Despite the fact Florida Atlantic University (1-2) held the lead through the game's first 11:21, the University of Miami (5-0) proved to be too much as they raced past FAU 74-48 Monday night at the Miami Arena in Miami, FL. FAU was led by Raheim Brown's double-double. The senior poured in 11 points while hauling in a career-high 15 rebounds. Robert Williams also added 10 points for the Owls.

FAU jumped out to a 7-0 lead on the Hurricanes in less than two minutes before UM scored the next six points. FAU held the lead until the 9:30 mark of the first half when a dunk by John Salmons gave UM a 17-16 lead. Leading the Owls 19-18 with 6:22 remaining in the half, the Hurricanes went on an 17-5 run in a five minute stretch to take a 36-23 lead with 1:22 left in the half. In all, the Hurricanes would close out the half on a 28-11 run after FAU led 14-10.

One final run by the Hurricanes with 14:50 left put the game out of reach for the Owls. UM would outscore FAU 19-4 over the next 7:49 to take a commanding 61-35 lead with 7:01 remaining. The Hurricanes would lead by as many as 30 points before the final horn.

Miami was led by James Jones, who scored 15 points and hauled in 15 rebounds. Darius Rice added 14 points and nine rebounds.

"We had a horrific shooting night," said FAU head coach Sidney Green. "I'm confident we won't shoot that poorly the rest of the season. We just couldn't find a hole in the basket."

UM outshot FAU 37 percent to 28 percent and held a 60-53 edge on the boards. FAU committed 22 turnovers against UM's 14.

FAU next hosts Stetson November 29 at 7:00pm in their Atlantic Sun Conference opener.
